Before all, we have to make a clear difference between pirates and corsairs : pirates are acting alone, with noone to obey. Corsairs are acting for their kingdom (France, Spain…), and so being fellows of their King.
Eline De Lussac, the main character of the song « Last Will of a Pirate », was first corsair under commitment of famous King Louis XIV : her mission was to attck spanish ships (and many others) during the war between french and spanish kingdoms.
The treasures of theses robberies did belong to the King, a small part being shared by the crew.
At the end of the war between France and Spain kingdoms, female captain Eline De Lussac didn’t stop her boardings. Crossing the line, she became so a pirate instead of a regular corsair, as did some of famous male captains.

« Fires at Sea » is a song that shows a dark image of pirates, with a main character driven by adventure and sea battles.
In the song « Fires at Sea », this narative referent is a real cruel character : curses, boardings, conquests and killing are his everyday life.
In « Last Will of a Pirate », we have a poetic and adventurous point of view. Here, in « Fires at Sea », events are similars ; but the song shows first the action side, with dynamic movements, a hard violence, and the non stop upcoming of dangerous and deadly situations during the battle.
To show you what it looks like, you can watch the video here below. Recorded live at La Baule Stadium, the amazing energy of Auregan can help you imagine the fighting scenario.
